Access Culture Chicago
As a part of the 25th Anniversary of the American's with Disabilities act I participated in a Disability/Inclusion themed Hackathon sponsored by Motorola. Our task was to design an app that would impact the disabled community in some way. The problem: Theaters offered many different types of accessible performances. Autisum friendly, interpreters, Open Captioning, etc. But this information was not in one readily updated place. We wanted this information to be easily available.
Solution: To design a user input based app where theaters could upload their accessible shows for disabled users to find.
We wanted to a way for theater goers to know what shows were accessibility friendly based on what type of assistance was needed. If you need an ASL interpreter you could search by that.
